Powder-based infant formula could be the linked to the death of a 10 day old Missouri baby boy. The newborn suffered from a rare bacterial infection that could possibly be linked to the powder-based formula. The CDC and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating the death being linked to the powder-based formula.
The infant formula is Enfamil Newborn powdered formula in 12.5-oz cans, with the lot number ZP1K7G. Consumers who have purchased this particular formula with this lot number are being directed to discard of it or return it to the outlet of purchase.
Walmart has made the decision to pull this particular formula from all of its stores, nationwide. Please note they pulled the Enfamil formula's matching the the size and lot number that is involved in this case. Since the investigation is still going on the CDC has not officially announced a recall of this formula.
