PBS' Arthur Introduces Asperger's Syndrome

The month of April is Autism awareness month and what better way to start this month then with a child-friendly show exploring Aspergers. On Monday, April 5, 2010 PBS will air the episode "When Carl Met George". This will be a great opportunity for parents to introduce Asperger's to their children.

Asperger's syndrome is a disorder that's part of the autism spectrum which affects development in children. Autism is a developmental disability and affects a person's ability to interact and communicate with others. The CDC reports that Autism now affects 1 in every 110 American children, 1 in 70 boys.

Many of your children share classes with children who live with this syndrome. This new episode will be a great introduction into the world of many of their classmates and future classmates.
