I absolutely love creating DIY items for my home. I think families can have a lot of fun working on crafts together and then decorating their home with them. I'm working on my own DIY framed bulletin/cork board for my office and one for my nieces room. I found a few pictures of some cool ones online. This project will probably be best for older children, especially teens. Teens have lots of pictures, tickets and memorable items from school and hanging out with friends that I'm sure they'd love to hang in a cool space. So, lets get crafting!
What You'll Need:
1. A large frame, for example 16"x20" (you choose the size)
2. A sheet of foam core or cork board, cut slightly smaller than your frame
3. A piece of colorful fabric cut 1-2" wider and longer than your frame size
4. Painters or masking tape or craft glue
5. Long, decorative pins or thumbtacks
6. Fabric shears and an exacto knife
What You Do:
1. You can use an old picture frame or a new one (I love the vintage look)
2. Remove the glass from the frame
3. If the frame is slightly old you can coat it with one or two coats of semi-gloss paint or spray paint
4. You can use fabric or just leave the cork board as is
5. If using fabric, iron the fabric, then place it on your work surface, wrong side up.
6. Center the sheet of foam or cork on top.
7. Depending on what you use, glue or tape, fold the fabric over and tape it or glue it down.
8. Place the fabric wrapped board into the frame, so the colorful/printed side shows through the front.
9. Secure the frame by re-attaching the back panel of the frame.
10. Start tacking!!!
