Craft Fridays: Make Your Own Sidewalk Chalk

Get Out Your Inner Child and Show the Kids How to Hopscotch
Hi So-famers! It's Friday again and we found a new craft for you. We search the web for some of the cutest, easy and affordable crafts for you and your family. Today's craft is just that and you can make it with the kids. This project is really for the whole family because after it's complete we want you to go outside with the kids and have fun. We are making sidewalk chalk, so you and the kids or just you can hopscotch in the park or on the sidewalk. Send us your pictures of you and the family doing your hopscotch moves.

Craft Supplies:

1. Plaster
2. Water
3. Plastic Container/Bowl
4. Tempura Paint or Food Coloring
5. Toilet Paper Tubes
6. Clay (optional)
7. Paper Tape
8. Scissors
9. Plastic Sheet (clear plastic)
10. Cardboard (optional)

*You can substitute any of the materials as you see fit

Directions:

1. Cover your table with plastic and cardboard.
2. Place the toilet tissue tubes on the cardboard or plastic
3. Tape down the toilet tissue tubes
4. To make the tubes extra secure, use clay to wrap around the bottom of tubes (this is optional)
5. Add 1 part water to the plastic bowl and 3 parts plaster
6. The substance needs to feel and look like yogurt (depending on plaster you may need more or less)
7. Add the colors of paint or food coloring that you like
8. Mix the paint and plaster substance together
9. Pour the mixed substance into the toilet tissue tubes (throw away the extra substance in the plastic bowl) *Do not put plaster substance in the sink because it can clog your drain
10. Let the substance set for 30 minutes in the tubes
11. Then peel off the tube (use a wet cloth to help with the peeling)
12. Your chalk is finished and now it's time to play
