I had the most amazing experience at the Swedish Cottage Marrionette Theater in NYC's Central Park.  I was invited to see their new marionette puppet show, "Little Miss Muffet's Monster Sitting Service".  The show transformed me right back to childhood.  As a child I loved going to puppet shows.  My mother always took me to see marionette puppet shows at the Bill Beard Theater in NYC, which is no longer in business.  The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater shows are funded by the City Parks Foundation.  The City Parks Foundation has a 20 year legacy of enriching and improving parks and communities across all five boroughs of New York City.

Live puppet shows are magical for kids.  Like, Kervin Peralta (Puppeteer) said in the video, "It's like a toy theater".  The reactions of the children when the curtains open and puppets take to the stage is priceless.  This particular show, "Little Miss Muffet's Monster Sitting Service", created a modern version of the classic nursery rhyme.  the show was unique, fun, engaging and full of surprises.  I absolutely loved it right along with the 30 or so kids that were in the audience.  What can I say, I'm a big kid at heart.

If you've or will be visiting the New York City area in the next several months, then you have to take the family to see this show.  It's a great family show and it's so affordable.  Even if you're not in the New York City area, you can still take your family to see a live marionette puppet show near you.  There are marionette puppet theaters across the country.  Introduce your kids to live theater through puppet shows.  They won't be disappointed.
